Who Are We

 Reliving Yesteryears

Have you ever seen the movie "Jeremiah Johnson" or "The Mountain Men" and dreamed of being there? Or thought you were born 200 years too late? Of course you have or you wouldn't be here now. Well, it's not too late to find out how they dressed, how they lived and what they did at a RENDEZVOUS.

There are numerous clubs, events and sites one can go to just to watch or join in. You can pick the size of Voo (Rendezvous) to your liking. From hundreds of pre-1840 camps to the small more homey camps of just a half dozen or so.

You can shoot a black powder rifle, shotgun or pistol. You can throw a Knife or Hawk. Maybe you want to learn how to start a fire with flint & steel. Maybe it's just a need to sit and shoot the breeze (parlaverin') with some of the best folks you'll ever meet. OK, let's be truthful, it's all that great food cooked over hot coals in a Dutch Oven!

South Wind Muzzleloaders, Inc. is one of these clubs. How big are we? That depends on you showin' up at one of our shoots or Voo's. At present, we are around twenty members and still growing. We're always looking for new members that are truly interested in living the life and passing the word.

South Wind Muzzleloaders, Inc. was formed on January 8, 2005. Our members are not so new to the ways of events and Voo's. We are mostly off spring of a former club, rich with ideals and loads of past experience, most known around many campfires. We feel we have the best of the best with a wide variety of knowledge, but we are always open to new suggestions.

We have worked hard just to get to this point in time and feel that we, South Wind Muzzleloaders, Inc. will be a name not soon forgotten. We have a beautiful, shaded, primitive campsite located about a mile northeast of Peru, Kansas. We do have room for a few Tin Tipis but no amenities are available. Some very nice shooting ranges, excellent hawk blocks and a great archery range are located on the property. We invite everyone, big and small, young and not so young, to join in our quest of reliving the past of yesteryears. Come, help us spread the word. Be one of us and live the life of the "Mountain Man"!
